Through the collection and analysis of geospatial information, their innovation, and the discussion and publication of results, we aim to be a research group that contributes to the elucidation and improvement of various human activities on the ground and their relationship with the environment. I am interested in changes in land use, economy and society in rural and rural-urban fringe areas.

I am interested in all aspects of geographic information systems, science and technology. I address health, transport, environmental, disasters, and social issues in urban areas by applying GIS methodologies. I examine how spatial (e.g., land use, distance from city centers, density, facility distribution, and elevation) and temporal (e.g., morning vs. night, weekdays vs. weekends, and past vs. present) factors influence urban residents’ perceptions of, and interactions with, their everyday lives and the built environment. Another characteristic of my research is the use of disaggregated data to understand individual experiences.

GIS is designed to
efficiently handle large volumes of map and attribute
data stored digitally in the computer through retrieval,
making changes, performing spatial analysis and
eventually giving a map output. It is quite a handy tool
in decision making and planning. I have recently
utilized GIS in tackling transportation geography and
urban systems research. It is my wish that all may
enhance geography by freely utilizing GIS in the Spatial
Information Science Laboratory.
